Flamenco (Art)

She will demand the respect that he owes her by crushing his imaginary heart.

Flamenco embodies an all or nothing approach towards life and love. It reveals the fire at the very heart of the dance, while the dancer bares her soul to the crowd. It is believed that the dancer’s stomping footwork symbolizes the way she would crush an ex-lover’s heart if he ever returned to her after cheating. To me, it is a dance of anger for being wounded and scarred by love. But, she will not be broken or defeated. Instead she will command her space and demand the respect that he owes her by crushing his imaginary heart. She wants all or nothing. A lover’s betrayal ends in nothing, and so she will keep dancing, until he has no heart left. –Samaya Sinha.
