I’ve always been drawn to the ocean. (Even though I don’t know how to swim, but don’t judge me!) Calm and awe come over me, and I remember how sweet stillness can feel. And, the waves – as they rise and as they settle – remind me, honestly, of my emotions.
It’s been, and continues to be, a learning experience for me to explore, embrace, and express my big feelings. And while there’s much I’ve learned thus far that I wish I would’ve been taught at knee-high, I’m taking every bit of it in…as harsh to bittersweet as it may be. The hope with learning about emotions is to strengthen my sense of self and express love to myself and others with more reassurance.
While learning about why we feel how we feel and why it’s hard to communicate that once we find the words, I’ve kept thinking to myself: do my Big Feelers know this? I’ve been working on educational resources and projects for ILY that are centered around emotional wellness – first and foremost, feeling your feels.
